Intradistrict Transfer Procedures

  • Intradistrict online applications will be available beginning October 15, 2018 @ mdusd.org.
  • Student Services Office will have a kiosk to assist parents.  Hidden Valley will have a designated area where parents may receive assistance with internet access.
  • There will be no paper applications.
  • Completed online applications for grades 1-12 must be submitted between October 15, 2018 and November 15, 2018 for the following school year.  No online applications will be accepted after the November 15, 2018 deadline. 

    Intradistrict requests for Kindergarten will be accepted starting February 18, 2019 through March 18, 2019. Students MUST be enrolled at their school of residence prior to submitting a transfer request.

    PROCEDURES 

      A student may only apply for one type of transfer during a school year.  If a student has applied for an Intradistrict Transfer then a subsequent Interdistrict transfer will not be accepted.

    Submitting online application:

    Intradistrict Transfer online applications are to be completed, signed by parent/guardian and submitted online via Google doc. The online transfer form must be submitted by November 15, 2018.

    Lottery:

    The Student Services Office will conduct a public lottery.  The lottery will be held in April, 2019 for grades K-5.  Only online applications submitted by the due date will be entered to the lottery.

    Notification:

    Parents/guardians will be notified in writing by  June 30, 2019 for K-5th grade, of approval or denial of transfer request.

    Appeal Process

    Choice - If parents/guardians are denied a transfer due to space availability, they may appeal this decision by submitting a letter in writing, to the Assistant Superintendent by the date indicated in the denial letter.  Appeals will be accepted only for students denied a transfer.  Notification of the results of an appeal will be made in a timely manner.  No appeals will be accepted for those students who were offered a school.  The decision of the Assistant Superintendent is final.

     

  • Enrolling in the approved school

    Parents/guardians must enroll the student at the approved school within two weeks or as indicated in the notification letter.  Once enrolled, the transfer is in effect through the 5th grade for elementary, 8th grade for middle school and through 12th grade for high school. *PLEASE NOTE: Students on Intradistrict Transfers can be displaced prior to September 15 of the current year by students who reside in the school’s attendance are.

    Exceptions

    Monte Gardens and Sequoia Elementary School have a separate admission process.  Please contact those schools directly to be place on a waiting list.

    Disclaimer

  • Staff reserves the right to change or adjust the types of transfer to align to the California Department of Education (CDE) recommendations.
  • The transfer may be revoked if the student fails to demonstrate good attendance, satisfactory behavior and/or satisfactory academic progress.
  • Parents/Guardians provide transportation.
